DREAM JOURNEYS–
“Discover the Stories Within You!”
In these programs, students discover the connection between their own “inner stories” and the myths and folktales of world cultures
First, students are introduced to the ancient practice of “journeying” used by the
indigenous cultures of the world to induce waking visions. They close their eyes
to the hypnotic sounds of booming drums, rattling deer hooves, growling didjeridoos,
haunting flutes, humming crystal bowls, and more… The students experience several
journeys with different instruments. After each one, they talk about their experiences:
Many have feelings of being in nature -
After sharing their stories, students learn how similar they are to traditional myths and folktales, which originated from peoples’ visions, just as theirs did! The details of their stories can be very close to those of Ancient Greece, Africa, Native American Indians, Australian Aborigines, etc.. They are encouraged to read some of these myths, and to discover how similar their minds and hearts are to people around the world and throughout history.
The school is provided with an extensive reading list of myths and folktales from
different cultures, to be shared with the students and their parents. Additional
